Including the four most advisors would rather you did not ask. My own answers are in there.
Most people hire a financial advisor the way they hire a contractor a friend recommended. They ask about experience, they like the person, and they sign.
They never ask the questions that would tell them something: how he gets paid, all the ways. What his conflicts are. What happens to their money if he dies. What it costs to leave.
I wrote down twelve of those questions and answered each one about my own practice. Use them on me. Use them on whoever else you are considering. The value is not in my answers. It is in watching how another advisor handles being asked.
